CD-ROM Project
by the Editor of the Newletter:
I am requesting that anyone interested in having their photographic
slides transferred to a CD-ROM that will be used to archive the photographs
of the Vietnam War taken by our members as well as those from the National
Archives. It is understood that in doing so you are giving the Chapter
permission to use your photography in the production of the CDROM, which
will be used for educational purposes and to archive the photographs in
a medium that is durable and should last a lot longer than slides. We are
also looking for contributions for a second CDROM Project to be used in
our product sales, specifically targeted toward the Scholarship Fund. I
am only accepting original slides which clearly indicate the dates stamped
on them. This is necessary as I have come across situations in which people
have claimed to be the photographer and I have seen the same shot from
government archival sources with credit to a different photographer. Also
an original reproduces better.
Having said the above I also want to stress that I or the Chapter
can't accept responsibility for any lost slides, maps, photographs, etc..
Please ensure you have copies of the original. I will do my best to ensure
your originals are returned to you but again, I can't guarantee their safe
return.
Locator
A suggestion was raised during last month's Board Meeting that we establish
a locator in our newsletter similar to that found in the Veteran. It seemed
like a good idea and we are going to try it and run the Names, Units, Geographic
Area (e.g. "I Corps" Dong Ha, Rockpile, 11 Corps, Plieku, etc.), and Dates
that our Members were in the Republic of Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos
and the Democratic People's Republic of Vietnam. Our goal is to run all
the information in a future Issue and we would appreciate it if you could
cut-off the bottom of this page and send the information to the Chapter.
(reproduced from the newsletter, create your own page and be sure to
cover as much of the detail as you can from below)
