Somers: On The Mountain Top

On July 13, 2000, Alliance members met in Somers, NY, to let employees know what is really going on at IBM. During the lunch period at the Somers site, Alliance members handed out flyers and ThinkTwice newsletters to employees entering the cafeteria in the main building.

The majority of people entering the cafeteria took flyers and reacted positively to the Alliance presence. Many stopped and wanted to know more. Although some people politely refused the flyers, there were no negative reactions from anyone. People not accepting flyers may have been nervous about being seen by management, but these people had a second chance to read the newsletter and flyers by picking up copies that had been left for them on cafeteria tables.
