NOTE: As of September, 2005 Patti and Chuck have moved out of the parish
to NJ.
We will still operate the website but you will not be able to easily
see us at Mass and talk about changes you want.
The parish office e-mails us an electronic copy of the Sunday bulletin.
Other than calls to our old friends we have no other way of knowing what
is going on. If it is out of date, nobody told us!
To make changes more efficient both for you and the webmaster we think the following procedures would be best.
Unless there is a critical situation please make changes in writing. We will assume that if you are astute enough to see this on the internet that you also have e-mail capability. All e-mail should be addressed to qlp@qlpconsulting.com. PLEASE make the first entry in the subject line "St Pat's". This is important. Since we are webmasters for many sites we have come to be on far too many spam lists. As such we employ a strict level of automatic filtering. E.g., NO mail will be set to us with a blank title, with $ signs, with "xxx", with "free" etc. We may loose some valuable information but we cannot open all of the inane mail that is sent to us. If we do not recognize the sender or the subject seems to be a solicitaiton we simply trash the mail, unread.
Anyone may report an obvious error such as a typo.
Content however may only be reported by the contact person who is responsible for the specific page. Usually a page refers to a contact person. In the cases where there is no contact person the change must come from the principals office for the school pages and from the Rectory or the Parish Council for parish matters. It sounds a bit pompous but it will save a lot of "oh, but he should not have told you that..."
If you want text changes to your page please retype the page and send the entire page either typed within your e-mail or as an attachment. If it is an attachment please tell us within the e-mail itself exactly what word processor you used to type the page. We have most word processors. If you send hard copy it MUST be in 12 point type or larger. Single columns, no pictures. Pictures separate.
Here is a bit of computer consultant paranoia. I will not open any attachment unless you clearly tell me in the body of the note that this is for the St. Pat's web site AND you tell me the most recent update to YOUR virus checker!! If it is anything less than the last month, don't bother it will not be opened. Sorry.
OK, so we can scan some items. That is how most of the bulletin items get to the site. But, scanners are not perfect. Page is deep colors, small type(less than 12 pt) and italics or underlines do not convert to true text well.
If we have missed something please let us know. We used our own knowledge of the parish and the school along with the Sunday bulletin and the Parish Handbook.
Remember, this website is for the parish and it will only be useful if Patti and Chuck know what you are doing. Telling us that something is happening "tomorrow" does not help get it publicized in time.
A blatant commercial: If you like this site please free to contact "hit@qlpconsulting.com" and lets talk about what we can do for you. You can see more about Q.L.P. at www.qlpconsulting.com. or you can see other exciting sites at the new (Jan 1, 1999) www.hereintown.com which is the host domain for St. Pat's.
Patti and Chuck Mangi.
